We have included a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section on the website to try to answer some of the questions you may have about coming to train muay thai in Thailand at our Muay Thai Sangha School in Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai. If you have a question that is not listed here, please email me, and I’ll do my best to answer your query as soon as I can.

If you want to train muay thai in Thailand, then you’re in the right place! Muay Thai Sangha training consists of a blend of different Muay Thai Boran styles, Thai weapons (Krabi-Krabong), and grappling arts under the influence of internal energy concepts and, of course, meditation.

I deliberately keep class sizes small so that I can personally ensure each student reaches a high level in the Muay Thai Sangha training. Providing you put in the effort, I guarantee you will learn and improve 100% however long you stay.

You can take a look at our biography in the About Us section, which will tell you a little bit about our background, but in essence, Kru has spent 35 years training, fighting, and teaching a variety of Martial and Healing Arts including, Judo, competition Muay Thai, Ancient Muay Thai Chaiya, Krabi-Krabong, Wing Chun, Silat, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, “Mix Martial Arts”, massage and meditation.

The school has been established in Chiang Mai, Thailand since April 2003. Note that Kru Pedro previously had a Muay Thai and Krabi-Krabong school in Atlanta, Georgia, USA for over two years until he moved permanently to Thailand.

Yes, we do offer muay thai training for beginners! In fact, many of our Muay Sangha students are beginners with no prior Muay Thai experience. You don’t need to have any previous martial arts experience to attend our school, beginners are very welcome. Just make sure you come with a positive attitude and an open mind.

Fitness is not a requirement to train, because your fitness and endurance will improve as you train.

So far the muay Thai Sangha School has one location in Thailand and a few other international branches in Spain, Greece, Canada, Switzerland, the United States, and Mexico.

Yes, we speak Thai, English, and Spanish, but like all martial arts muay Thai sangha is a very visual activity so even if you cannot speak any of the above languages, you are more than welcome to come and train.

From Chiang Mai, Mae Taeng is around a 45-minute journey by bus and from the local bus station which would cost around 25 baht for the journey.

Morning 09:00 am until 12:00 pm. Evening 4:00 pm until 6:30 pm. Saturday 9 am – 12 pm. Saturday evenings and all day Sunday, we are closed.

If you’re looking to train muay thai in Thailand then cost should be a consideration, along with the quality of the training and the environment that you will be training in. At Muay Thai Sangha, we’ve worked hard to bring you top-notch training curriculum, facilities, environment and overall experience while you’re here visiting our Chiang Mai Gym.

Our regular courses start at 8,000 Thai Baht (around $210€ / $250) per week or 20,000 Thai Baht (around 525€ / $650) per month.

Absolutely. Fighting is an option and not an obligation. We ask that you tell us what you wish to learn from us and we will work on helping you to achieve your goals.

The Thailand school is very well equipped. We have plenty of space to skip, run circuits, 6 bags, plenty of training equipment – gloves, pads, and an array of protective gear and weight equipment. The school is kept very clean and located in a quiet, peaceful rice field area in Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai.

More importantly, the school has a positive, friendly atmosphere that I’m sure you’ll find well suited to helping you to learn quickly and enjoying your time at the school. We take your training very seriously as we are aware of the cost of a trip to Thailand and the limited time available to many people in modern society.

If you’re looking for a muay thai training camp with accommodation, then you’re in luck! Accommodation is available in a nearby guest house. Please email us informing us in advance of your arrival and so, therefore, we can arrange for everything to be in place upon your arrival. We have a varied range of foods within a 5-minute walk from the school. We are situated close to many local restaurants which vary in cost and offer a wide range of foods and we are also near the famous Mae Malai market.

We recommend you speak to your consulate so you are aware of the up-to-date options available to you depending on the length of time you wish to stay with us.

Muay Thai Sangha training will increase your balance, coordination, power, speed, and timing.

By practicing meditation and energy work, your awareness, concentration, and sensitivity will improve further each day.

Muay Thai Sangha striking will teach you counter-attacks and defensive techniques from long to medium combat ranges.

Muay Thai Sangha grappling combat covers close range fighting, teaching you how to neutralize an aggressor either standing up or on the ground.

You’ll learn how to keep proper balance while moving and use effective techniques to take the maximum advantage of your own body weight.

You can start training at the school at any time. Each class varies between two and a half and three hours in length. Most students stay at the school for between one and two months. The minimum training is one week.

We have all the quality equipment, techniques, and knowledge to help you go as far as you wish to go within Muay Thai Sangha, all we ask is that you bring a willingness to learn.

Yes, as long as you have enough time to gain a good level of skills and endurance.

Yes. I have trained a World Champion, a North American Champion, and American Champions while I was living in the USA. Since moving to Thailand, I have trained many professional Thai and foreign fighters.

This depends on the length of stay and each person is different however we are confident that you will improve your endurance, flexibility, balance, coordination, etc, all through an extended understanding of striking and grappling methods. In addition, meditation will help you to develop a better awareness of yourself.

Many of the Muay Thai Sangha students come back on an annual or regular basis to continue training, but we understand that this isn’t possible for everyone which is why we offer options to train and learn muay thai online.
